Job Summary

The Production Manager is a key member of the Mount Allison University team, responsible for the coordination of activities in the theatre, including scheduling, production management, and budgeting. This role requires a strong understanding of theatre production and a ability to work collaboratively with the Resident Designer and Director of Drama.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage production schedules and budgets in consultation with the Resident Designer and Director of Drama.
  • Crewing of productions, including coordinating with technical staff and student technicians.
  • Technical coordination for productions, including lighting and sound design, and implementation of designs.
  • Coordinate stage management for productions, including student mentorship.
  • Supervise student technicians in the areas of Theatre Production and Front of House.
  • Recommend, purchase, and ensure safe implementation of equipment in the theatre and theatre shops.
  • Purchase general supplies and equipment for the Drama and Screen Studies program.
  • Responsible for Facility management, including inventory and equipment maintenance, and organization of theatre spaces.
  • Responsible for Venue management for rentals, in collaboration with the Director of Drama.
  • Provide Audio-visual support: setting up of equipment for events in the theatre.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Professional/academic training in Theatre Production or equivalent combination of education and experience (3-5 years).
  • Knowledge/experience in lighting and sound design is an asset.
  • Teaching/supervisory experience is an asset.
  • First Aid training and Fall Arrest certification (can be executed on-site).
