Job Summary

Hamilton Kent Inc. is seeking a skilled Splicing Technician to join our team in the production of high-quality gaskets. As a key member of our manufacturing team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe production of gaskets, adhering to company quality and production requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain a Safe and Clean Working Environment: Ensure the working area is safe and clean before starting work, adhering to company health and safety rules and regulations.
  • Operate Equipment Safely: Ensure mould temperature has reached its setting prior to splicing, and perform tasks to prepare strip for splicing as required.
  • Verify Rubber Strip Quality: Verify rubber strip for straight cut and clean ends prior to splicing, and load tape roll into tape machine and visually check quality.
  • Load and Unload Gaskets: Load gasket into press, insert splicing tape between the ends of gaskets (as required), and close mold; auto timer will open once cure time is up.
  • Inspect and Package Gaskets: Remove gasket & remove flashing, visually inspect gasket for cracks at splice, nibs, lumps, pinholes, and other defects, and pack finished gaskets.
  • Document and Record Information: Document and record all required information, and perform other duties as required by supervision to meet production requirements.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma is preferred.
  • Language Skills: Read, write, and speak basic English.
  • Physical Demands: Incumbent spends almost 100% of his/her time in the plant environment requiring varying degrees of light physical labour, including lifting, pulling (less than 15 lbs.), standing, and walking.
Working Conditions
  • Plant Environment: Incumbent understands, respects, and adheres to the workplace Health & Safety rules and regulations derived from the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
