Halifax Regional Municipality is seeking a dedicated individual to join our Victim Services team as a volunteer.

As a Victim Services volunteer, you will provide emotional support, crisis intervention, and referral information to victims of crime at the scene, during evening hours.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing emotional support and crisis intervention to victims of crime
  • Referring victims to community resources and services
  • Working with a partner to assist citizens in crisis situations
  • Taking notes and forwarding information to Victim Services staff

Requirements:

  • 19 years of age or older
  • Experience providing listening support to clients in a human services capacity
  • Valid Nova Scotia Driver's Licence
  • Reliable transportation to and from the Dartmouth police office
  • Good driving record
  • Computer savvy
  • Able to attend training, meetings, and events
  • Able to make a minimum one-year commitment

Selection processes for volunteer programs are held on an as-needed basis. Candidates' applications will be held on file and reviewed at the next available selection process.
