About the Role

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a Supervisor, Environmental Services to join our team at Vancouver General Hospital. As a key member of our Environmental Services team, you will be responsible for supervising a team of Housekeeping Aides and Lead Hands, ensuring that our facilities are clean and safe for patients, residents, families, visitors, and staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the work of Housekeeping Aides and Lead Hands to ensure that all areas of the hospital are clean and well-maintained.
  • Order and manage Environmental Services supplies, monitor expenditures, and prepare budget estimates.
  • Perform a variety of housekeeping duties, including damp dusting, dry and wet mopping of floors, floor maintenance and refinishing, cleaning and disinfecting ceiling, wall, vent, washroom, bed, furniture, and equipment, regular and biomedical waste collection and removal, hazardous spill clean-up, bed-making, and maintaining the overall cleanliness of the facility according to organizational policies, procedures, and routines.

Environmental Services plays a critical role in maintaining a safe and healthy environment for patients, residents, families, visitors, and staff. Our team works closely with infection control and patient care teams to clean and disinfect clinical and non-clinical areas, including patient care rooms, offices, washrooms, and common areas. We also remove garbage, recycling, soiled linen, and bio-hazard waste, vacuum carpets, clean and polish floors, and disinfect walls and beds.

Qualifications

  • Grade 10, plus three (3) years' recent, related experience, including six (6) months' supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Valid BC Driver's License as local area travel may be required.
