Health Information Services Supervisor

Position Overview
The Health Information Services Supervisor at Victoria General Hospital is responsible for supervising staff who perform various functions, including patient registration, bed assignment, and telephone switchboard operations. The incumbent must ensure that patients are registered according to standards and best practices, and that registration and communication processes optimize workflow.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and direct Health Information Services staff
- Ensure compliance with registration standards and best practices
- Optimize registration and communication processes
- Represent the hospital and department on various committees and working groups
Requirements
- Two years of direct experience in Patient Registration
- Demonstrated experience with automated admission/discharge/transfer (ADT) applications
- Experience with telephone communication equipment
- Experience with interpretation and application of relevant privacy legislation
Education and Certification
- Graduate of a recognized training program for Health Information Management Professionals
- A combination of education and experience may be considered
Qualifications and Skills
- Ability to effectively schedule, supervise, and evaluate staff
- Thorough understanding of client registry and registration functions
- Excellent organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to make independent decisions within scope of practice and role
