Culinary Services Manager

We are seeking a skilled Culinary Services Manager to join our team at The Salvation Army.
About the Role:This is a full-time position that offers a competitive salary of approximately $45,000 - $55,000 per year, depending on experience. As a Culinary Services Manager, you will be responsible for leading our food services team and ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency in our kitchen operations.
Key Responsibilities:Food Preparation and Service
You will oversee the preparation and serving of nutritious meals to residents and clients, adhering to applicable food service and safety regulations. This includes:
- Preparation of meals, including special dietary needs
- Operation of large-volume cooking equipment
- Maintenance of sanitation, health, and safety standards
- Ensuring food safe practices
Leadership and Supervision
You will mentor and guide kitchen staff, provide input into meal preparation, and assume supervisory duties in the absence of senior staff.
Logistics and Administration
You will receive, process, and store donated and purchased food items, maintain records as required, and submit incident reports as needed.
Education and Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have:
- A high school diploma plus specialized courses or equivalent
- Cook's papers (1-year course) or equivalent
- Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search
- Canadian Institute of Food Safety Food Handler Certification Course or equivalent
- At least one year of institutional cooking experience
Preferred Skills:
The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills, attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, creativity, physical endurance, dexterity, and good motor skills.
