Patient Care Assistant

The Utility Worker is a vital member of the Nutrition and Food Services team at Nova Scotia Health, providing exceptional service to patients, residents, and staff. Reporting to the Manager / Food Service Supervisor, this role involves preparing and serving meals, cleaning and sanitizing patient trays and equipment, and supporting safe food handling procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Prepare and serve patient meals, including assembly, portioning, and delivery.
- Clean and sanitize patient trays, equipment, and work areas.
- Support safe food handling procedures and maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Participate in receiving and storing supplies, including food and non-food items.
- Generate and print menus, reports, and labels.
- Grade 12/GED or equivalent.
- Demonstrated competency in English and basic math.
- Restaurant experience is considered an asset.
- Customer service skills are an asset.
- Ability to work as part of a team and provide exceptional service.
- Ability to perform duties within expected timeframes and standards of accuracy.
