The Ottawa Catholic School Board is seeking a Casual Educational Assistant to provide support to students with special needs in our schools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualized support to students with diverse needs, including physical, intellectual, and behavioral challenges.
  • Assist students with academic development, social skills, and daily living activities.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to develop and implement individualized education plans.
  • Respond to students' physical, emotional, and hygienic needs.

Requirements:

  • Secondary school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2-year Community college diploma in a related field or a University Degree in a child-related field of study.
  • 2 years of relevant experience working with children with diverse needs.

Assets:

  • Knowledge of PICS, PECS, ABA, signing, Braille.
  • Behavior Science certificate.
  • Special feeding techniques.
  • CPR/First Aid, CPI (NCI) and Diabetic Monitoring.
  • Ability to show initiative.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to establish a rapport with children.
