Actuarial Student Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Actuarial Student to join our team for an 8-month internship. As an Actuarial Student, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of projects, including month-end/quarter-end valuation, special projects, and support of actuarial functions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in month-end/quarter-end valuation, including starting reserves runs, updating spreadsheets for drivers of earnings (DOE) and gains and losses analyses, and actuarial analyses as required.
  • Work on special projects, such as profitability studies to determine trends as required, and other projects as needed.
  • Support actuarial functions, including design and completion of surveys as required, assisting with the production of various reports by assembling the required information, and assisting actuarial analysts/advisors in a support role as required.
Requirements:
  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in actuarial science.
  • Comfortable manipulating large data sets, including SQL, and highly proficient with numbers.
  • Skilled in working with Excel, Access, Python, and R software (GLMs, tidyverse) and previous office experience.
  • Ability to follow established procedures and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Asset: knowledge of IFRS 17 and/or AXIS.
  • Availability to work full-time for 8 months, starting September 2024.
What We Offer:

We offer a competitive hourly rate, ranging from $27.50 to $30.50 CAD, depending on knowledge, skills, years of experience, and internal equity related to the position. We are committed to providing a fair, equitable, and market-based compensation structure.
