Job Description

The Alexa Customer Journeys team is seeking a highly skilled Data Scientist to lead the development and implementation of state-of-the-art machine learning systems for personalizing conversational assistant systems.

As a Data Scientist, you will play a critical role in driving the development of personalization techniques enabling conversational systems, particularly those based on large language models, information retrieval, recommender systems, and knowledge graph. You will handle Amazon-scale use cases with significant impact on our customers' experiences.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Use deep learning, ML, and NLP techniques to create scalable solutions for building personalized assistant systems based on structured and unstructured contextual signals.
  • Innovate new methods for contextual knowledge extraction and information retrieval using language models combined with other learning techniques.
  • Research advanced customer understanding and behavior modeling techniques.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and solve complex problems in personal knowledge aggregation, processing, modeling, and verification.
  • Design and execute experiments to evaluate the performance of state-of-the-art algorithms and models, iterating quickly to improve results.
  • Think Big about the arc of development of conversational assistant system personalization over a multi-year horizon, identifying new opportunities to apply these technologies to solve real-world problems.
  • Communicate results and insights to both technical and non-technical audiences through presentations and written reports.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience building models for business applications.
  • PhD or Master's degree with 4+ years of CS, CE, ML, or related field experience.
  • Experience programming in Java, C++, Python, or related languages.
  • Experience in areas like algorithms and data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel and distributed computing, high-performance computing.

Benefits:

  • Average annual salary: $199,300 - $299,300 depending on experience.
  • Total compensation package including equity, sign-on payments, medical, financial, and other benefits.
