About the Role

Hatch is seeking a highly motivated Senior Tailings Process Engineer to join our team in Mississauga, ON, Canada. As a key member of our tailings management practice group, you will work closely with our process teams and clients to deliver integrated tailings solutions in the North American market.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical leadership and support to clients and internal teams on tailings management projects, including proposal preparation and scoping studies.
  • Develop and implement cost-effective solutions for tailings dewatering, separation, and pumping design, leveraging your expertise in mineral processing engineering, metallurgy, or mechanical engineering.
  • Mentor junior staff and foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
  • Review and provide feedback on technical designs prepared by junior/intermediate engineers.
Qualifications and Experience
  • 10-15 years of experience in tailings dewatering, separation, and pumping design for precious and base metals, battery materials, ferrous, and non-ferrous.
  • Proven experience in developing process design criteria, mass balances, and process flowsheets for dewatering, backfilling, and synergy between underground and surface disposal.
  • Strong technical skills in tailings filters, thickeners, pipe and pump sizing, agitation processes, hydrocycloning, and dewatering screens.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and MS Project.
  • Working knowledge of the Global Tailings Standard on Tailings Management (GISTM) and other relevant industry standards.
