Job Title: Senior Tailings Process Engineer

Hatch is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Tailings Process Engineer to join our team in Mississauga, ON, Canada. As a key member of our tailings management practice, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise and leadership in the development of integrated tailings solutions for our clients in the North American market.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical guidance and support to clients and internal teams on tailings management projects, including proposal preparation, scoping, and basic engineering studies.
  • Develop and implement cost-effective solutions for tailings dewatering and disposal, including trade-off studies and best available technologies.
  • Mentor junior staff and foster a continuous learning environment.
  • Review and approve technical designs prepared by junior/intermediate engineers.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • 10-15 years of experience in tailings dewatering, separation, and pumping design for precious and base metals, battery materials, ferrous, and non-ferrous.
  • Proven experience in developing process design criteria, mass balances, and process flowsheets for dewatering, backfilling, and synergy between underground and surface disposal.
  • Strong technical knowledge of tailings filters, thickeners, pipe and pump sizing, agitation processes, hydrocycloning, and other available technologies for dewatering processes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proficiency in MS Office suite of tools, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and MS Project.
  • Ability to travel internationally for business, with a focus on North America (Canada, USA, and Mexico).
