Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement undergraduate recruitment strategies and protocols, working closely with the Recruitment and Admissions Officer to identify and compile recruitment data to support admissions decisions.
  • Assist in the development of marketing action plans for recruitment relationship building and outreach initiatives, ensuring alignment with our overall marketing and recruitment plan.
  • Build strong relationships within the University of Waterloo community, including professors, staff, current students, and external stakeholders, to support recruitment, admissions, and student transition.
  • Cultivate relationships with domestic and international students, influencers, and key discipline-specific stakeholders to promote our programs and services.
  • Serve as a key public-facing contact for the University of Waterloo across various recruitment audiences, providing exceptional client service and support.
  • Attend and provide leadership at all recruitment and outreach events for the University of Waterloo, ensuring a positive and engaging experience for attendees.
  • Provide support in the development and implementation of student retention and conversion strategies, working closely with key stakeholders to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Develop and lead training for student ambassadors, faculty student ambassadors, and others involved in delivering recruitment initiatives, ensuring they have the skills and knowledge needed to succeed.
  • Ensure that the University of Waterloo's key value propositions and differentiators are highlighted consistently and prominently across our communication channels and events.
Requirements
  • Post-secondary degree or professional qualification in digital media marketing or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent writing abilities, including promotional writing targeted for a student audience, with a demonstrated track record of success.
  • Demonstrated strong networking and client service skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent promotional writing and experience with online content marketing strategies and best practices for web writing.
  • Experience in special events planning and execution, with a focus on creating engaging and memorable experiences for attendees.
  • Proven research and report writing skills, with the ability to analyze data and make informed recommendations.
  • Knowledgeable about UI/UX design, information architecture, and search engine optimization, with the ability to apply this knowledge to improve our recruitment strategies.
  • Knowledgeable about accessibility requirements, including AODA legislation, and able to ensure that our recruitment materials and events are accessible to all.
  • Ability to articulate the creative and technical rationale for design choices, with a focus on ensuring that our recruitment materials and events are effective and engaging.
  • Self-starter with a high level of motivation, able to work independently or within a team under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to problem-solve, with a high level of attention to detail, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Intermediate to advanced use of current digital management tools, including Google Analytics, SEO tools, social media platforms, Adobe Creative Suite, video editing software, project management software, and responsive WCMS.
