We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented individual to join our team as an Overpayment Clerk. In this role, you will play a vital part in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial transactions within our department.
As an Overpayment Clerk, you will be responsible for analyzing case files, applying relevant policies, and calculating ineligible payments. Your work will involve collaborating closely with our staff, legal representatives, and other departments to communicate and provide clear, detailed verbal and written breakdowns of overpayment calculations.
You will also be responsible for ensuring accurate information is maintained and assessable, and for processing activities relating to the Canada Pension Plan, bankruptcy submissions, legal correspondence, and researching and preparing draft responses to Ministerial Inquiries.
This role requires a high level of visual and mental concentration, as well as good hand dexterity for continual phone and computer use. If you are a detail-oriented individual with excellent communication and organizational skills, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.
Key Responsibilities- Assess and electronically assign ineligible client overpayment cases to a third-party collector
- Post payments received against overpayments and update records
- Generate and forward overpayment letters to clients
- Monitor appeal timelines and outcomes
- Prepare overpayment breakdowns and accompanying correspondence
- Monitor and action multiple reports and cash logs
To be successful in this role, you will require at least four (4) years of related experience in accounting, administration, and/or bookkeeping. You will also need to demonstrate excellent attention to detail, organizational, communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
A working knowledge of the Department of Community Services (DCS) and the programs administered by Income Assistance is highly desirable. You must also have experience and knowledge in the use of computers and have a working knowledge of the software packages including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
