Job Summary

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement engaging and educational preschool programs that meet the needs of our diverse community.
  • Lead a team of preschool assistants to ensure a safe and enjoyable learning environment.
  • Collaborate with the Community Recreation Coordinator to plan and deliver programs that align with corporate philosophies and policies.
  • Develop and maintain an 8-12 week high-quality program plan for preschool classes.
  • Promote an environment of safety and respect among participants using positive behavior management techniques.
  • Encourage individual growth in developmental areas appropriate to participant age and ability.
  • Maintain effective communication with parents, public, coworkers, and supervisor.
  • Ensure the effective administration of behavior management techniques when dealing with participant issues.
  • Take appropriate action to deal with incidents, problems, and emergencies.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants during program hours.
  • Prepare all teaching aids, program supplies, and equipment required for each class.
  • Maintain supplies and equipment inventory necessary to operate the program.

Qualifications

  • College Diploma or University Degree in Early Childhood Education or combination of training, education, and experience deemed equivalent.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience working with preschool-aged children.
  • Knowledge and experience related to the delivery of recreational programs.
  • Excellent organization, time management, and planning skills.
  • Self-motivated, positive, confident, and approachable.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Respectful of diverse opinions and perspectives.
  • Willing to share information with others and to solicit input.
  • Committed to quality customer service.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Valid Standard First Aid with CPR certification.
  • Able to provide a current Criminal Reference Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search) that is satisfactory to the Town.

What We Offer

  • Rate of Pay: $24.97 per hour.
  • Hours of Work: This is a non-union position that works up to 24 hours per week.
