Product Engineer Job Description

About the Role

Flex-N-Gate, a leading manufacturer and supplier of automotive components, is seeking a skilled Product Engineer to join its team. As a key member of the product development team, you will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and testing new products, as well as supporting production products with engineering changes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and analyze engineering drawings, schematics, and prototypes to ensure they meet product requirements.
  • Analyze current product offerings to identify opportunities for improvement, increasing functionality, and reducing production costs.
  • Reverse-engineer competitor products to identify key strengths and weaknesses.
  • Develop solutions to product weaknesses and improve overall product quality.
  • Collaborate with the product development team to review drawings and prototypes for functionality, reliability, and ease of manufacture.
  • Assist the team in keeping development on schedule and ensure all products meet or exceed customer specifications.
  • Liaise with sales and manufacturing departments to align product specifications with corporate strategy and competitive goals.
  • Respond to product development and functionality inquiries, and assist the sales and marketing staff in understanding product benefits.
  • Maintain accurate product development records and assist other engineers with product development projects.

Requirements

  • 3 years' experience in the automotive industry.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in an engineering discipline or equivalent engineering technology diploma.
  • Knowledge of TS16949 requirements and experience with APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, Control Plans, and Process Flow.
  • Proven ability to create and execute product development plans that achieve identified targets.
  • Strong leadership abilities, good problem-solving and root cause analysis skills, and good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Sound technical background with logical deductive reasoning approach, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work with little supervision, self-directed, and strong project management skills.
  • Ability to travel to USA and international destinations.
