Job Summary

Valard Group of Companies is seeking a skilled Truck and Coach Technician Apprentice to join our team. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will assist experienced mechanics in the maintenance, inspection, and repair of trucks, trailers, and construction equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire replacements, brake adjustments, and fluid top-ups.
  • Support the diagnosis and repair of diesel engines, transmissions, electrical systems, and air brakes.
  • Help troubleshoot mechanical and hydraulic systems under supervision.
  • Participate in the repair and maintenance of trailers and attachments.
Requirements
  • Maintenance and Repairs:
    • Assist in routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire replacements, brake adjustments, and fluid top-ups.
    • Support the diagnosis and repair of diesel engines, transmissions, electrical systems, and air brakes.
    • Help troubleshoot mechanical and hydraulic systems under supervision.
    • Participate in the repair and maintenance of trailers and attachments.
  • Training and Development:
    • Learn to use diagnostic tools, specialized equipment, and technical manuals.
    • Participate in in-house training and attend offsite trade school sessions required for apprenticeship progress.
    • Follow instructions from certified mechanics to complete tasks safely and efficiently.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Ensure all work follows workplace health and safety guidelines and company policies.
    • Assist with inspections to ensure compliance with Ministry of Transportation (MTO) and Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
    • Keep work areas clean and organized, ensuring proper care and use of tools and equipment.
  • Record Keeping and Documentation:
    • Maintain accurate records of work completed and parts used.
    • Track work hours to meet apprenticeship program requirements.
Education and Experience
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of relevant experience.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Enrollment in or willingness to enroll in the 310T Truck and Coach apprenticeship program.
  • Valid driver's license (DZ mandatory and AZ preferred).
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Basic understanding of mechanical systems and tools (automotive or diesel experience is an asset).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn.
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work in a fast-paced environment.
