About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join Newmont Inc. as an Apprentice Heavy Duty Equipment Technician. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for inspecting, repairing, and maintaining surface mobile mining equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform troubleshooting, disassembling, repairing, and predictive and preventive maintenance on surface mobile equipment
  • Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems, using hand and power tools
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturer's specifications
  • Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work of equipment
  • Service attachments and working tools such as blades, ploughs, winches and side booms
  • Ensure compliance with OHSA, Corporate and Porcupine Environmental Regulations, Safety and Sustainability Standards
  • Collaborate with others to achieve organizational goals within the department and cross-department
  • Provide own tools and assist in other work areas as required
Requirements
  • Successful completion of intermediate in-school training sessions and 70% of required hours for their trade
  • Experience maintaining surface mobile equipment including loaders, trucks, drills, personnel carriers and service type vehicles and excavators
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, computer and written skills
  • Ability to organize work and self-motivate
  • Willingness to work with others and be technically competent
Working Conditions
  • Work a 5x5x4 schedule
  • Located at the Dome site, part of Newmont's Porcupine Mine Site near Timmins, ON
