About the Role

The Government of Nova Scotia is seeking a skilled Building Operator to join our team. As a key member of our Public Works Department, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our provincial building infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and resolve potential problems, and perform minor carpentry, mechanical, and electrical repairs.
  • Assist with the development and administration of a scheduled preventative maintenance program.
  • Ensure all equipment performs and operates properly, providing a safe and secure work environment.
  • Establish and maintain effective communication and coordination with other divisions, project teams, and stakeholders.
Qualifications and Experience
  • High School completion plus a Power Engineer 4th Class certificate and five (5) years of related experience in operating and maintaining commercial or institutional buildings.
  • Familiarity with computerized building maintenance management systems and government procurement policy.

Working Conditions

This role requires physical strength and dexterity, as well as the ability to work in extreme environmental conditions. Overtime may be necessary during installations and maintenance that disrupt building activities.
