Job Title: Original Talking Circle Facilitator

Native Child and Family Services of Toronto is seeking a skilled and compassionate Original Talking Circle Facilitator to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will play a vital role in providing culturally sensitive and holistic support to our clients.

Job Summary:

The Original Talking Circle Facilitator will be responsible for facilitating traditional talking circles, which are a collaborative assessment and problem-solving process that draws on the wisdom of Indigenous cultures. This role requires a strong understanding of Indigenous approaches to healing, including land-based practices and cultural knowledge.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Facilitate traditional talking circles with Elders and clients to create a safe and supportive environment for sharing and healing.
  • Develop and implement culturally sensitive and holistic support plans for clients.
  • Work collaboratively with internal staff and external partners to ensure effective communication and service delivery.
  • Provide education and support to clients on the Original Talking Circle process and its benefits.
  • Identify and prioritize issues and develop agreed-upon plans for moving forward.
  • Comply with provincial and occupational health and safety legislation, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as required to support the success of our clients and organization.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding and practice of Indigenous approaches to healing, including land-based practices and cultural knowledge.
  • Experience working with Indigenous communities and organizations.
  • Excellent facilitation and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
