PARC Retirement Living is an award-winning developer and operator of independent senior-living communities. We're seeking a Building Services Manager to join our team.

About the Role

As a Building Services Manager, you will be responsible for the overall maintenance and upkeep of our properties, including:

  • Performing and logging building maintenance, such as cleaning, painting, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and snow-removal work.
  • Triaging maintenance and work orders in a timely and professional manner using an in-house software system.
  • Responding to building emergencies, including floods and equipment breakdowns.
  • Managing and procuring maintenance supplies and trades.
  • Conducting suite inspections and moving furniture as needed, along with repair work, carpet cleaning, painting and other in-suite tasks.
  • Assisting with budget planning, energy optimization and other corporate initiatives.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A respected facility management background with five to 10 years of experience as a handyperson in a senior-living or hospitality environment, including supervising employees and/or contractors.
  • Excellent decision-making, customer service and participative management abilities.
  • Knowledge and experience with all types of building equipment, electrical and mechanical systems, including kitchen equipment.
  • A Facility Management or Class 5 Power Engineering certification.
  • A basic understanding of physical plant operations, maintenance and trouble-shooting of major systems.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • An understanding and respect for the needs of seniors, their families, and other professional services engaged with our residents.
