Job Summary:

BGC South East is seeking a dedicated Centre Cook/Program Support to join our team at St. Genevieve Child Childcare Centre.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, preparing, and serving nutritious lunches and snacks according to the Canada Food Guide.

We are looking for someone with thorough knowledge of food preparation, meal planning, and food safety practices who can handle multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities effectively.

This position will have a passion for working with young children and promoting their well-being through healthy meals and positive meal-time experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Menu Development: Plan and develop menus that meet the dietary needs of children with special requirements or allergies
  • Kitchen Management: Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen environment, adhering to Ministry and Public Health guidelines
  • Food Safety: Ensure safe food storage and disposal, complying with all health and hygiene regulations
  • SUPPORTING THE PROGRAM: Assist with break coverage for program educators as needed and support with classroom activities and supervision of children

Requirements:

  • Certifications: Safe Food Handling Certificate, Standard CPR/First Aid Level C, Criminal Record Check
  • Experience: 1-3 years cooking for groups, previous experience in childcare or related fields preferred
  • Skills: Knowledge of food preparation, meal planning, and food safety practices, ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities effectively

What We Offer:

  • Salary: $20.00 per hour, paid bi-weekly
  • Benefits: Employee assistance program, extended health care, life insurance, RRSP match
  • HOURS OF WORK: Monday to Friday, approximately 40 hours per week
