Job Summary:
The Industrial Product Engineer will play a vital role in planning, developing, implementing, and executing technical deliverables for injection molded products.
This role involves working closely with cross-functional teams to contribute to concept ideation, product development, and successful launch to market.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop product requirements and specifications
- Collaborate with Innovation Lead, Product Designer, and internal/external engineering teams
- Conduct 3D modeling, testing, and digital analysis to ensure product meets requirements
- Research areas requiring special attention and source necessary accessories
- Manage risk through Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
- Review products to maintain proper validation rates and identify potential issues
- Conduct 3D simulations to validate product performance
- Review material science with Jason to ensure mold/material compatibility
Tool Development:
- Conduct feasibility checks for undercuts, molding, and overall mold design
- Obtain quotes from multiple toolers/molders
- Estimate part file costs and specifications
- Review mold design with toolmaker to confirm readiness for 3D mold
- Provide tonnage and specifications for molders
Injection Molding:
- Provide molding support, including fitting and coordinating communication between toolers and molders
- Troubleshoot daily issues with material, machine, mold, and design
- Follow up on parts and conduct tool maintenance
- Coordinate communication between molders and tool shops
- Conduct trial and testing on issues
