Sensity Deafblind and Sensory Support Network of Canada has an exciting opportunity for a Support Specialist to join our team in Sarnia, ON.

The Support Specialist will provide critical support and assistance to individuals who are living with dual sensory impairment, enabling them to live independently and participate fully in their communities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting individuals in their home and community environments
  • Using communication techniques to relay information and facilitate effective communication
  • Empowering individuals to participate and be successful in all aspects of daily living
  • Providing personal care as required, including lifts and transfers, toileting, personal hygiene, and medication administration
  • Assisting with developing and supporting individual goals and objectives
  • Ensuring documentation and records are complete

Requirements:

  • Completion of a college diploma or certificate in the Intervenor for Deafblind Persons program or a related human services field
  • Experience supporting persons with developmental disabilities and challenging behaviors
  • Experience supporting persons with mental health conditions
  • Communication in American Sign Language (ASL) or Signed Exact English (SEE)
  • A valid driver's license, access to a reliable vehicle, and a clean current driver's abstract
