Role Overview:
Arcadis Canada is seeking an Environmental Field Technician to join our Environmental Team in Canada. This position will be based in British Columbia, with 85% travel to sites throughout the region required, as well as opportunities to travel across Canada.
This role sits within the Global Resilience Business Area, where we work to protect our natural environment and water resources, while powering our world for future generations. We are committed to addressing the effects of climate change, rapid urbanization, and loss of biodiversity.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and execute activities assigned by Project Managers related to environmental projects, including site assessments, risk assessments, and remediation projects.
- Conduct site visits and inspections, monitor and supervise drilling and/or remediation activities, prepare field notes, and collect soil and groundwater samples.
- Write environmental reports and maintain knowledge and familiarity with provincial and federal regulatory frameworks.
- Independently supervise contractors (drillers, daylighters, utility locators, etc.)
Requirements:
- Technical Diploma or bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering, earth sciences, or related field.
- 2+ years of experience in soil, groundwater or vapour sampling, and overseeing drilling activities and subcontractor management preferred.
Key Skills:
- Demonstrated ability to supervise and mentor junior colleagues, fostering their professional growth and development.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and writing skills.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications:
CTech or CET or eligibility for P.Eng. or P.Geo. considered an asset.
