Key Responsibilities:

As a Pre-Board Screening Officer, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety of passengers and creating a positive travel experience.

Key Tasks:

  • Screen passengers and baggage through airport security checkpoints efficiently
  • Confirm valid boarding passes for passengers
  • Scan and test baggage for prohibited items using X-ray machines, metal detectors, and other technology, along with physical search techniques
  • Protect restricted areas
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with passengers and colleagues
  • Uphold all regulations with vigilance
  • Manage conflict situations professionally

Requirements:

  • Excellent customer service skills, preferably in a high-volume environment for a minimum of one (1) year
  • Open availability to work any shift as required by the airport operations
  • Strong English communication skills, both written and verbal; fluency in French is an asset
  • Ability to comply with the CATSA medical requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Candidates must be local to Castlegar, or the surrounding area
  • Must be Canadian citizen or permanent resident

Security Clearance:

If you are successful in the application process, you will be required to apply for a Transport Security Clearance (TSC), which requires an extensive background check. Once obtained, you will be eligible to begin the Screening Officer Foundations (SOF) course, which must be successfully passed prior to beginning work as a Pre-Board Screening Officer.
