Health and Safety Coordinator Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Health and Safety Coordinator to join our team at Plan Group in downtown Vancouver.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Advise and ensure compliance of safety policies and programs for Plan Group, subcontractors, and constructors.
  • Coordinate and provide safety training to workers at all levels, including Fire Safety, WHMIS 2015, WAH, Lift Training, and New Hire Orientation.
  • Act as a primary contact for health and safety-related issues, requests, questions, and concerns for the project.
  • Advise employees, supervision, and project management regarding health and safety-related information, including OHSA, regulations, standards, and constructor policies.
  • Develop programs and procedures for new health and safety legislation or requirements.
  • Coordinate site walk-throughs, review, and follow up on any findings with the appropriate parties.
  • Investigate near misses, unsafe conditions, and incidents, and research new health and safety advancements as needed.
  • Assist in auditing safety programs and documentation, and track incident statistics to develop proactive control measures.
  • Assist with WSIB claims and RTW programs.
  • Take an active role in internal and external safety committees.
  • Coordinate and maintain all safety-related information and documentation with the HSE Department.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of safety experience in the construction industry.
  • Graduate from a health and safety or related program is an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Adobe.
  • Willing to work on site in downtown Vancouver.
  • National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) is an asset.
