Job Summary

The Commission Scolaire Central Quebec / Central Quebec School Board is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Special Education Support Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our educational community, you will play a vital role in supporting students with special needs to thrive and succeed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaboration and Teamwork
    • Work closely with the teaching team, families, and external resources to provide targeted support for students with special needs.
  • Support and Intervention
    • Develop and implement customized learning strategies to support students with diverse needs.
    • Contribute to the creation, development, and implementation of personalized intervention plans.
  • Student Progress and Support
    • Monitor student progress and provide regular feedback to students, families, and educators.
    • Encourage an inclusive and stimulating learning environment that promotes student engagement and motivation.
  • Communication and Documentation
    • Communicate effectively with students, families, and educators to ensure seamless support and services.
    • Document student observations, interventions, and progress in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Additional Responsibilities
    • Manage the administration of medication according to medical and school guidelines.
    • Provide first aid and intervene in emergency situations as needed.
    • Guide and train new team members and supervise support staff tasks related to technical operations.

Requirements

  • Education and Experience
    • Post-secondary education in a related field (e.g., special education, education, psychology).
    • Experience working with students with special needs, preferably in a school setting.
  • Skills and Competencies
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
    • Strong problem-solving and adaptability skills.
    • Proficiency in using technology to support student learning and communication.
