Heavy Duty Mechanic - Equipment Specialist

As a Heavy Duty Mechanic - Equipment Specialist at Canfor, you will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing mobile equipment to ensure optimal performance and prevent breakdowns. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting regular maintenance checks on heavy-duty equipment, such as Taylor, Kalmar, and Warehouse forklifts, Kenworth and Peterbilt chip trucks, IMCO Chip trailers, 966K loader, 980H loader, and 988H loader.
  • Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues to ensure optimal performance and prevent breakdowns.
  • Identifying and troubleshooting problems with engines, transmissions, braking systems, and other components of heavy-duty equipment.
  • Utilizing diagnostic tools (ET) and technical manuals to pinpoint issues and develop effective repair solutions.
  • Performing routine inspections and replacing worn or damaged parts to prevent equipment failures and increase longevity.
  • Using welding and fabrication skills to repair or modify equipment components.
  • Maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities, including parts used, repairs made, and hours worked.
  • Providing detailed reports on the condition of equipment, maintenance performed, and recommendations for future actions.

Requirements:

  • Red Seal Certification
  • Experience with hydraulics and welding
  • Superior troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work in a safe and efficient manner
  • Knowledge of Cat, Kalmar, and Taylor equipment would be an asset
