Job Title: Heavy Duty Mechanic

Remcan Projects LP is a leading provider of railway maintenance and construction services across Canada. We are seeking an experienced Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our team in Prince George.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a skilled Heavy Duty Mechanic to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair our diverse fleet of equipment. The successful candidate will oversee the day-to-day operation of the shop, prioritize and assign work as required, and manage and mentor apprentices assigned to location.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operation of the shop, prioritizing and assigning work as required
  • Manage and mentor apprentices assigned to location
  • Complete daily safety briefings
  • Perform preventative maintenance on various equipment
  • Diagnose and repair all types of equipment
  • Report to the Mechanical Superintendent
  • Complete work orders and equipment log books accurately
  • Source parts and supplies when necessary
  • Work individually as well as in a team environment
  • Assist with other duties as required

Requirements:

  • Completion of provincial red-seal apprenticeship in Heavy Duty Mechanics or Commercial Transport
  • Minimum 5 years' experience
  • Extensive experience with hydraulic and electrical troubleshooting and repairs
  • Class 3 w/ air license would be an asset
  • Experience with railway equipment an asset
  • Ability to work unsupervised as well as in teams
  • Ability to work all types of shifts as required
  • Willingness to learn and repair all types of equipment
  • Willingness to travel and work in remote locations when necessary
