Business Process Consultant

We are seeking a skilled Business Process Consultant to join our team at the Bank of Montreal. As a Business Process Consultant, you will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, implementing, measuring, and managing processes to ensure they reflect current business strategy and business/stakeholder requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate in the design, implementation, and management of core business/group processes.
  • Design processes based on business requirements and best practices, ensuring they adhere to applicable risk, regulatory, and compliance requirements.
  • Streamline, simplify, and continuously improve existing processes.
  • Document processes for vetting, communicating, and implementing with stakeholders.
  • Ensure all processes meet established standards, effectively utilize templates and tools to track compliance and operational effectiveness standards.
  • Look for opportunities to eliminate, simplify, and automate processes, recommending changes to streamline and integrate processes to improve efficiency.
  • Integrate information from multiple sources to enable more efficient processes, enhanced analysis, and/or streamlined reporting.
  • Participate in the integration of Core Process transformation across business/groups to deliver process improvements for productivity savings and enhanced customer/employee experience.
  • Ensure that process design reflects current business strategy and business requirements and supports the Bank's end-state digital vision.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to assigned business/group.
  • Influence and negotiate to achieve business objectives.
  • Recommend and implement solutions based on analysis of issues and implications for the business.
  • Identify emerging issues and trends to inform decision-making.
  • Develop an understanding of organizational interactions and complexity to engage with the appropriate stakeholders. Manage stakeholder expectations and negotiate with project stakeholders on scope and deliverables.
  • Stay abreast of industry technical and business trends through participation in professional associations, practice communities, and individual learning.
  • Resolve issues regarding processes that are raised from all sources/stakeholders.
  • Build change management plans of varying scope and type; lead or participate in a variety of change management activities, including readiness assessments, planning, stakeholder management, execution, evaluation, and sustainment of initiatives.
  • Lead or participate in defining the change/communication plan designed to positively influence or change behavior; develop tailored messaging; and identify appropriate distribution channels.
  • Manage change by actively engaging with senior stakeholders, acting as a change agent, influencing others to implement appropriate methodologies, diagnosing barriers to project success, and facilitating resolution.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional enterprise teams on multiple engagements consistent with matrix management.
  • Build strong relationships with other areas of the Bank, such as Product groups, operations support teams, Finance, IT, Legal, etc.
  • Create and deliver presentations summarizing findings and recommendations to business partner executives and senior management.
  • Monitor and track performance; address any issues.
  • Design and produce regular and ad-hoc reports, and dashboards.
  • Break down strategic problems, and analyze data and information to provide insights and recommendations.
  • Provide input into the planning and implementation of operational programs.
  • Develop an understanding of organizational interactions and complexity to engage with the appropriate stakeholders. Stay abreast of industry technical and business trends through participation in professional associations, practice communities, and individual learning.
  • Focus is primarily on business/group within BMO; may have broader, enterprise-wide focus. Leads investments work streams within enterprise programs.
  • Exercise judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules.
  • Work independently and regularly handle non-routine situations.
  • Broad work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.

Requirements:

  • Between 5 - 7 years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Possesses a deep understanding of and problem-solving ability for issues within P&BB.
  • Knowledge of Investments processes, mutual funds compliance is an asset.
  • Knowledge of business analysis and project delivery practices and standards.
  • Knowledge of business/group processes, procedures, and controls.
  • Understanding of risk, regulatory, and compliance requirements.
  • Strong Verbal & written communication skills, experience with presentations.
  • Collaboration & team skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Influence skills.
  • Data-driven decision making.
  • Experience of managing small to medium work streams in a transformational, fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable dealing with rapid change and dealing with ambiguous situations.
  • Track record of delivering process design and improvement.
  • Proven ability to effectively manage multiple activities with varying complexity within tight time frames.
  • Proven ability to operate and influence at all levels.
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma principles and process mapping fundamentals an asset.
  • Experience in User Acceptance Testing is an asset.
  • Knowledge of Investments products and subject matter (including Mutual Funds/Compliance) is a plus. Knowledge of branch network, systems, and applications used by BMO Personal Banking is an asset.
  • Aptitude for technology, fast learner, demonstrates initiative and take-charge attitude.
  • Experienced in preparing presentations and material for senior executives.
  • Exposure to consulting environment is an asset.
  • Well-organized & detail-oriented, excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced user of MS Office suite.
  • Bilingual an asset.

Salary: $68,000.00 - $126,000.00

Pay Type: Salaried

The above represents BMO Financial Group's pay range and type.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group's expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group's total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
