Payroll Manager Job Description

Our client, a leading energy company, is seeking a highly skilled Payroll Manager to join their team on a 12-month contract, with the possibility of extension or conversion to a full-time position. The role is hybrid, with a mix of in-office and remote work in Calgary.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Oversee and manage payroll operations, ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll and time for all employees.
  2. Manage SAP Time and Schedule, including queries, configuration, and maintenance of schedules.
  3. Develop and maintain payroll policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with federal, provincial, and local laws, as well as company policies.
  4. Conduct audits of payroll data, investigating discrepancies and resolving issues in a timely manner.
  5. Prepare and submit payroll reports, including year-end tax forms, to government authorities and internal stakeholders.
  6. Oversee the maintenance of payroll software, ensuring it aligns with Canadian payroll regulations and internal policies.
  7. Collaborate with external auditors during payroll audits and ensure compliance with audit requirements.
  8. Coach, mentor, and develop payroll team members.
  9. Identify opportunities to improve and enhance payroll and time processes.
Requirements:
  1. PC or CPM certification.
  2. Oil and gas industry experience is strongly preferred.
  3. Experience using SAP (or another large ERP system) and working with external payroll providers like Ceridian and ADP.
  4. Experience processing payroll in Canada, specifically in Ontario, British Columbia, and Alberta.
  5. 5+ years of experience managing teams.
