Arauco North America is a leading manufacturer of Particleboard and MDF, with a strong commitment to quality and customer satisfaction. We are seeking a skilled Industrial Mechanic to join our team at our Sault Ste Marie MDF mill.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for safely and efficiently responding to all maintenance issues and upset conditions, with the goal of increasing overall mill reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to mill breakdowns in a timely and efficient manner, working closely with area operators to resolve maintenance-related issues.
  • Maintain a detailed maintenance logbook, ensuring it is current at the end of each shift.
  • Take ownership of assigned areas and work to resolve downtime, quality, and safety issues.
  • Assist in developing PMs for assigned areas.
  • Daily interaction with area operators and management to address issues and provide maintenance support.
  • Communicate maintenance issues to operators, PICs, planners, and peers in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Interface with area planners to coordinate down day and daily work schedules.
  • Work with other trades and operators to increase uptime reliability and assist during breakdowns.
  • Participate in vibration route collection and take field readings.
  • Investigate the root cause of equipment failure and make recommendations for long-term fixes.
  • Enter work requests for required follow-up work.
  • Complete assigned work orders or other PM/PDM activities as assigned.
  • Seek to continually improve skillset through vendor training, web-based training, and seminars.
  • Attend and participate in maintenance crew meetings and other group functional meetings and training.
  • Support the Asset Reliability Process (ARP) as it is rolled out.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Post-secondary mechanical program and/or a valid ticket as a certified Industrial Millwright or other trade designation.
  • Industrial mechanical skills experience, including bearings, hydraulics, pumps, and gearboxes.
  • Industrial welding and fabrication experience.
  • Industrial mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Familiarity with SAP is a plus but not required.
  • Strong written and communication skills.
  • Willingness to work shift work that supports a 24-hour/day, 7-day/week operation.
  • Ability to work at heights, in hot, noisy, and dirty environments.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Proven ability to be a self-motivated and self-starter.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of the Maintenance Team to achieve all department goals.
