About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Environmental Technician to join our team at WSP Canada. As a key member of our contaminated sites team, you will be responsible for working on various projects involving soil and groundwater characterization and remediation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct soil, surface water, and groundwater sampling and monitoring
  • Supervise environmental drilling and installation of observation wells
  • Oversee excavation and exploration trenching
  • Supervise contaminated site remediation projects (ex situ or in situ)
  • Conduct groundwater level monitoring, biogas monitoring, surveying, and various tests (permeability, pumping, recovery, etc.)
  • Ensure that all work is completed in accordance with plans and specifications
  • Supervise subcontractors on site
  • Implement and enforce health and safety standards on site
  • Monitor material quality and quantities
  • Prepare daily reports
  • Prepare site memos and recommendations for contractors to ensure compliance with contractual clauses
  • Take necessary measures to ensure compliance with laws and regulations related to the work
  • Prepare notes and drafts for the production of plans such as constructed plans
  • Attend site meetings
  • Mentor junior staff and provide guidance to less experienced employees on site
Requirements
  • DEC in a related field (environmental, natural sciences, environmental protection, geology, etc.) or engineering (geotechnical, civil, etc.)
  • Senior-level experience (more than 6 years) in sampling and site supervision in the environmental field, soil and groundwater characterization, and/or contaminated site remediation
  • Experience in geotechnics is considered an asset
  • Hold a valid ASP Construction card
  • Valid driver's license
  • Experience in a consulting engineering firm is considered an asset
  • Bilingualism (French/English) is an asset
  • Availability for work outside the Greater Montreal area, although most sites are located in the Montreal metropolitan area
  • Availability to work variable hours, although most work takes place during regular working hours, Monday to Friday
