Join our team at the Aboriginal Health and Wellness Centre as a Greeter, where you will play a vital role in providing a welcoming and supportive environment for our community members.

Job Summary

The Greeter will work as a member of a diverse, inter-professional team to provide a safe and inclusive space for individuals accessing our services. This role requires strong communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Welcome and support all community members entering the centre, including those from Indigenous and non-Indigenous backgrounds, and individuals from the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and those with disabilities.
  • Nurture a judgement-free and shame-free environment, focused on harm-reduction and the individual's healing journey.
  • Emphasize culturally sensitive and person-centered care, recognizing the importance of decolonizing healthcare systems and spaces.
  • Deliver safe practices in accordance with our program standards, policy, and procedural operations, as well as Regional Health and Provincial protocols.
  • Facilitate crowd control and clinic flow, including for community members waiting to be seen and those being monitored during the post-visit window.
  • Assist with navigation through the site and ensure signage is in place and visible.
  • Work collaboratively with the team to address operational issues and maintain a safe and welcoming environment.
Essential Skills
  • Ability to work in an interdisciplinary team and multiple clinical operations.
  • Strong de-escalation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to function effectively in a fast-moving environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Strong verbal communication skills and time-management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to respect and promote confidentiality.
Qualifications

High school or an equivalent combination of education and/or work experience deemed acceptable by the Aboriginal Health and Wellness Centre. Experience working with diverse populations is an asset.
