Job Summary

In this critical role, you will oversee the planning and execution of underground mining activities, ensuring alignment with production targets and safety standards. Reporting to the Mine Manager/Engineering Coordinator, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining plans, schedules, and budgets to support the achievement of business objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Planning and Scheduling: Develop and maintain 18-month and rolling 3-6 month plans to ensure production targets are met, taking into account preferred zone sequencing and geological factors.
  • Leadership and Supervision: Supervise the Planning Group, providing guidance, training, and coaching to ensure team members are equipped to meet their responsibilities.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure that all planning and scheduling activities are conducted in compliance with relevant government and company policies, procedures, and regulations, minimizing risks and ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Maintain open communication with stakeholders, including geologists, underground teams, and other departments, to ensure seamless coordination and execution of mining activities.
  • Performance Monitoring and Analysis
  • Review and Revision of Plans: Regularly review and revise plans to ensure that production targets are being met, and that the overall longer-term goals are being achieved.
  • Problem-Solving and Decision-Making: Identify and address operational bottlenecks, and make informed decisions to ensure the achievement of business objectives.
Requirements
  • Education and Qualifications: A degree in mining engineering from a recognized university, and a Professional Engineering Designation (P.Eng.) or eligibility to register.
  • Experience and Skills: Minimum 10 years of overall underground experience, including 5 years of leadership experience, with proficiency in Deswik and spreadsheet programs, and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
