Job Summary

This position offers an exciting opportunity to work as a Mine Closure Specialist at Newmont Inc., located in Timmins, ON. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient closure of mines.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in geotechnical engineering and experience in mine rehabilitation, permitting, and compliance issues. Additionally, they should be able to demonstrate practical environmental management skills and lead positive working relationships.

About the Role
  • This is a site-based position that requires regular on-site presence.
  • The schedule is 4 days on, 3 days off.
Responsibilities
  1. Support compliance with filed Closure Plans associated with historically active mining camps.
  2. Develop and implement closure strategies in accordance with filed Closure Plans and Strategic Business Plans.
  3. Provide technical support and guidance to mine sites where required.
  4. Assist in establishing sustainability programs to support community acceptance with future land use objectives.
  5. Manage annual closure budgets.
  6. Work with contractors, consultants, and Engineers of Records (EORs) on closure, tailings, and geotechnical issues.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical/Environmental Engineering or related field.
  • Licensed or registered as Engineer in Training with Professional Engineers Ontario.
  • At least 2 years of experience in the mining industry or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of geotechnical engineering and mine rehabilitation.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Estimated Salary Range

$120,000 - $150,000 per annum, depending on experience.
