We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Environmental Compliance Specialist to join our team at Montrose Environmental Group. As a key member of our Alternative Delivery team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the successful delivery of environmental services for large infrastructure projects across Ontario.
About the RoleThe successful candidate will have a strong background in environmental compliance, with a minimum of 10 years of experience in a consulting or directly related role. You will be responsible for leading and managing environmental requirements on infrastructure projects, overseeing and providing technical input on environmental assessment, planning, design, and construction projects, and collaborating with internal and external subject experts to successfully meet the growing needs for environmental compliance on impactful projects across the province.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage environmental requirements on infrastructure projects across Ontario
- Oversee and provide leadership and technical input on environmental assessment, planning, design, and construction projects
- Collaborate with private and public sector clients, approval agencies, sub-consultants, and subcontractors
- Engage and liaise with stakeholders, including conservation authorities, municipal, provincial, and federal governments, and the public
- Coordinate with internal project teams across disciplines, including engineers, hydrogeologists, and ecologists
- Leverage existing client relationships and cultivate new relationships to generate business development opportunities
- Lead and prepare competitive bids and cost estimates for multi-disciplinary projects
- Mentor and develop junior and intermediate staff members
- 10+ years of construction, planning, or experience in a consulting or directly related role managing environmental compliance
- A bachelor's or master's degree in environmental planning, urban planning, geography, environmental science, or a related field
- Experience with groundwater and surface water management, sustainability, noise and vibration, air quality, and species at risk permitting process
- Ability to work on a variety of projects in various sectors, including urban, transportation, infrastructure, oil and gas, wind, and hydropower
- Experience working with transportation and municipal infrastructure planning and construction projects
- Experience engaging with stakeholders, including First Nations, municipal governments, conservation authorities, and the private sector
- Strong project management skills, including developing and monitoring of budgets, approved project scope, and schedule, organizational skills, staff supervision, and team communications
- Knowledge and working experience with regulatory requirements, including the Municipal Class EA process and the Canadian Impact Assessment Act
- Experience leading or supporting large proposals or bids
- Business development experience backed by a superior track record of building productive client relationships
- Valid G-class driver's license required
- Knowledge or technical working experience with Regulation 153/04 and 406/19
- Experience working directly for a construction firm or consortium on P3 projects
- Experience working with Metrolinx and the Ministry of Transportation (MTO)
- Familiarity or working knowledge of ISO
