Rail Systems Engineering Lead

City of Calgary is seeking an experienced Rail Systems Engineering Lead to oversee the maintenance and repair of Calgary Transit's Light Rail Transit (LRT) Signaling System. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising, planning, and coordinating the engineering activities, budget management, and ensuring system reliability and safety. Key responsibilities include:
- Recruiting, coaching, and managing team members.
- Managing engineering, construction, and maintenance of the LRT Signal System.
- Scheduling and supervising inspections, preventative maintenance, and repairs of LRT Signals assets.
- Managing a multi-million-dollar budget and optimizing resource allocation.
- Analyzing system status and preparing progress reports for senior management.
- Developing and implementing safety and reliability initiatives.
- Overseeing contracts and managing procurement for maintenance and critical spares.
- Creating and implementing guidelines, specifications, and asset management plans.
Requirements for the position include:
- A degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 8 years of relevant professional engineering experience.
- Experience in LRT signaling or rail systems engineering, including managing engineering projects and budgets.
- A valid Class 5 driver's license and ability to obtain a City of Calgary operator's permit.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities, excellent analytical skills, and effective communication skills.
