About the Role

CIHI is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to support our Indigenous Health team. As a Co-op Student, you will play a key role in advancing our organization's priorities related to Indigenous health.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to existing work and projects as requested, working collaboratively with the Indigenous Health team and across the organization.
  • Build relationships with internal and external colleagues and partners, including First Nations, Inuit, and Métis organizations.
  • Participate in meetings and contribute to project and meeting planning, developing materials for engagement with Indigenous and non-Indigenous partners.
  • Scan, summarize, and synthesize research and policy literature/environments for relevant Indigenous health information, and analyze data to support projects.
  • Support activities and events related to cultural safety and humility, such as the cultural safety measurement project.
  • Contribute to the development of reports and other products, such as website updates, materials for engagements/conferences/workshops, fact checking, and product testing.
Requirements
  • Must be registered in a Master's level program.
  • Experience conducting literature searches and reviews, and writing short texts for different audiences.
  • Experience in Indigenous health research, sociology, population health, or a related area, with data analysis skills an asset.
  • Knowledge of Indigenous health and social issues, and the social/political context of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams).
  • Fluency in English and French is an asset.
Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to those who self-identify as Indigenous.
