Job Title: Mine Planning Superintendent

We are seeking a highly experienced Mine Planning Superintendent to join our team at StevenDouglas.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day activities of Mine Supervisors and managing key operational functions within the mine.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement budgets and performance targets for the department.
  • Direct and coordinate the execution of projects and operational plans to meet safety, quality, and cost objectives.
  • Manage the selection of new equipment for the mine.
  • Continuously monitor key performance indicators to optimize efficiency, quality, and cost.
  • Complete performance management tools and evaluations for direct reports.
  • Promote teamwork, high performance, and environmental stewardship throughout the operation.
Requirements:

The successful candidate will have at least 10 years of experience in Open Pit Mining and a strong background in mine planning and operations.

The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with excellent leadership and communication skills.

They will be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and make sound decisions in a timely manner.

The candidate will also have a strong understanding of safety protocols and procedures.

They will be able to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to achieve business objectives.

The successful candidate will be based in either Wabush or Labrador West and will have a schedule of 5 and 2.

They will report to the Mine Manager and will be responsible for overseeing the 2 operations shifts of the mine.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing budgets, setting performance targets, and ensuring the execution of projects aligns with safety, quality, and cost objectives.

This role includes full oversight of new equipment selection and continuous monitoring of key performance indicators to improve process efficiency, product quality, and cost-effectiveness.
