**Job Summary**

The YMCA of Northern Alberta is seeking a qualified Fitness Instructor to support the delivery of services in assigned group fitness programs and services of the Workout Centre. The successful candidate will assist in the delivery of high-quality services, monitor and respond to the Member Connect Program, and instruct group fitness classes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build relationships with staff, volunteers, and members, maintaining consistent communication.
  • Know and review all emergency procedures, Adult Fitness and Lifestyle standards, and best practices, responding to situations immediately in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.
  • Ensure YMCA Service Standards for Adult Fitness and Lifestyle are consistently met, responding to service challenges and customer complaints in a timely manner.
  • Deliver high-quality services through excellent relationships with members, provide quality instruction in group fitness classes, and be available after class to answer member questions.
  • Correct unsafe techniques and ensure safe and effective use of equipment by participants.
  • Ensure program schedules include a variety of program times and options, and that the schedule is posted and followed, with classes starting and ending on time.
  • Create a personalized service to all members of the Workout Centre, ensuring all questions and concerns are addressed in a timely manner.

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Alberta Fitness Leadership Certification Association (AFLCA) Group Exercise Leadership Certifications, Can-Fit Pro, or related group certification is an asset.
  • Previous experience with group fitness instruction is an asset.
  • Certifications: Standard First Aid & CPR-C.
  • Able to obtain a Police Information Check with Vulnerable sector check.
  • Willing to obtain employer-specific WHMIS certification within 30 days of hire date.

  • Can accomplish administrative tasks accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Familiar with Group Fitness and Fitness Centre Standards and Regulations for operating Adult Fitness and Lifestyle programs and services.
