About the Role

GFL Environmental is a leading environmental services company with a strong presence in North America. We are currently seeking a skilled Heavy Duty Equipment Maintenance Specialist to join our team in Fort St John, BC.

Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced heavy duty equipment mechanic to provide maintenance and repair services to our fleet of vehicles and equipment. The successful candidate will work independently, using their technical expertise and problem-solving skills to ensure that all equipment is safely and efficiently maintained.

Responsibilities
  • Maintenance or repairs of diesel, CNG, gas and electrically operated trucks as well as associated heavy duty equipment
  • Using various power tools, hand instruments and cutting-edge equipment
  • Completing daily reports, work orders and ordering necessary parts
  • Planning and scheduling repairs in M5 planner and procure parts
  • Assisting in the review of mechanical write-ups and coordinate repair schedule
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A high school diploma or general education degree (GED); technical diploma desired
  • 1+ year experience as a Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic
  • Relevant criteria for safety-sensitive functions according to Company standards
  • Follow detailed instructions, work independently and maintain accurate records
  • Willingness to operate any vehicle or equipment necessary to perform job
  • Exert physical effort including pushing, pulling, bending and lifting items up to 100 lbs.
  • Use fine motor coordination with arm, hand, finger and leg dexterity
  • Ability to kneel, crawl and climb
Working Conditions

The successful candidate may be exposed to dust, noise, heat, cold and fumes. GFL is committed to providing a safe working environment and adhering to all relevant health and safety regulations.

What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary range of $65,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on experience. In addition, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including extended health, dental and vision coverage, RRSP and DPSP options, paid holidays and time off, and other perks such as tool allowance and shift differentials.
