Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electrical Distribution Engineer to join our team at CIMA+. As a key member of our distribution team, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise for electrical distribution infrastructure in accordance with client standards, engineering principles, guidelines, policies, and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the efficient and effective day-to-day operation of the distribution team;
  • Develop design work packages with scope, schedule, and effort estimates;
  • Resolve design and field engineering problems by conducting independent studies and analysis;
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by communicating with stakeholders and performing activities such as defining the scope of Distribution engineering services to be provided;
  • Provide specialized expertise in Distribution and actively mentor, coach, and set high standards for work performance;
  • Exercise innovation to propose creative modifications to improve work processes, guidelines, instructions, procedures, and standards;
  • Design overhead line structures and associated facilities for voltages up to 35kV in an electric utility environment.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in an engineering role with specific Distribution knowledge ideally within British Columbia;
  • P.Eng designation or eligible to become a P.Eng with EGBC;
  • Experience working with utilities in Western Canada;
  • Experience related to expertise in Overhead - and underground electric utility distribution systems operating at voltages at or below 35kV;
  • Good communications skills to adequately articulate and discuss technical options;
  • Familiarity with GIS, CAD systems, and drawing standards;
  • Ability to use standard industry design/analysis software such as SPIDAcalc and PLSCAD;
  • Ability to work with remote partners and team members;
  • Maintain effective working relationships with clients, staff, and other employees;
  • Available for occasional travel (mostly within Western Canada).
