Strategic Corporate Lending Leader

The Strategic Corporate Lending Leader will contribute to the sound growth and profitability of assigned units in Latin America and the Caribbean, by ensuring the assigned portfolio of corporate loans is maintained in sound condition within Scotiabank's current credit policy and local regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure prompt and sound decision-making in the analysis and adjudication of credit proposals within assigned limits;
  • Monitor the timely submission of all applications;
  • Improve the quality of applications and submissions;
  • Evaluate and maintain the accuracy of data in various databases and reports.

Operational Excellence

  • Verify that all terms and conditions of authorizations are accurate and that Scotiabank's position is fully protected by way of adequate security requirements and appropriate credit conditions.
  • Apply risk assessment guidelines and provide feedback and guidance to the field on these principles.
  • Maintain an acceptable quality portfolio by:
    • Monitoring account quality;
    • Monitoring emerging trends and recommending suitable courses of action;
    • Following up on reporting requirements for individual accounts.

Client Focus and Development

  • Contribute to the profitable development of commercial credit in the assigned geographical/industry areas by providing direction, guidance, and meaningful constructive feedback to the field.
  • Supervise, direct, and counsel subordinates to ensure optimal performance through effective management.
  • Provide opportunities for professional growth and development through internal training programs.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • An MBA and Accounting Designation (CA, CFA, or CMA), or
  • An MBA and Business/Economics Bachelor's degree.
  • A minimum of 5 years' banking experience, including knowledge of commercial/corporate banking or credit adjudication.
  • Prior financial and business analysis experience with excellent decision-making skills.
  • Strong people management skills with demonstrated commitment to coaching and developing staff.
  • Fluency in Spanish is required.

Compensation Package

We offer a competitive salary range of $120,000 - $180,000 per year, commensurate with experience. Additionally, our comprehensive benefits package includes health, dental, and vision insurance, retirement savings plan, and paid time off.
