Job Title: Sessional Instructor, Health Care Assistant

Job Summary:

We are seeking a qualified individual to instruct in the Health Care Assistant Certificate program at North Island College's Comox Valley St. Joe's campus.

This instructional assignment involves teaching practice courses to an international Health Care Assistant cohort. Practicum placements will take place in various practice settings within the Comox Valley, and may require travel. Applicants must have access to reliable transportation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and prepare learning materials for instructional environments
  • Use a variety of approaches and materials to address different learning needs
  • Teach in assigned subject areas and include all required subject matter or skill activity
  • Direct student learning in a positive, supportive, and caring environment
  • Be available to students regularly during scheduled office hours and classroom hours

Requirements:

  • Practical Nursing credential or BSN degree
  • Two years' experience teaching adults, preferably at the post-secondary level
  • Work experience in gerontics
  • Extensive experience working with Older Adults
  • Current registration with BCCNM (inclusive of Criminal Record)
  • CPR Level HCP required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Provincial Instructor diploma
  • Experience with Indigenous pedagogies and culture
  • Experience with or interest in international HCA education
