Job Title: Sessional Instructor, Health Care Assistant

Job Summary:

We are seeking a qualified individual to instruct in the Health Care Assistant Certificate program at North Island College's Comox Valley St. Joe's campus.

This instructional assignment involves teaching practice courses to a Health Care Assistant cohort, with practicum placements in various settings within the Comox Valley. Applicants must have access to reliable transportation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and prepare learning materials for instructional environments
  • Use a variety of approaches to address different learning needs
  • Teach in assigned subject areas and include required subject matter in courses
  • Direct student learning in a positive, supportive environment
  • Communicate learning outcomes and evaluations to students
  • Maintain records of student enrollment and achievement

Requirements:

  • Practical Nursing credential or BSN degree
  • Two years' experience teaching adults, preferably at the post-secondary level
  • Work experience in gerontics
  • Extensive experience working with Older Adults
  • Current registration with BCCNM (inclusive of Criminal Record)
  • CPR Level HCP required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Provincial Instructor diploma
  • Experience with Indigenous pedagogies and culture
  • Experience using online learning management systems
