Job Title: Senior Environmental Scientist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Environmental Scientist to join our team at WSP Canada. As a key member of our Environmental Management team, you will play a critical role in delivering high-quality environmental services to our clients across Western Canada.

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to work on complex water quality issues for our clients in various sectors throughout Western Canada. As a Senior Environmental Scientist, you will be responsible for leading multi-disciplinary teams to design and implement water quality, sediment quality, and aquatic effects monitoring programs. You will also provide technical leadership and guidance to project teams, ensuring the delivery of high-quality results that meet client expectations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement water quality, sediment quality, and aquatic effects monitoring programs for multiple sectors in BC and resource development projects throughout Western Canada and the North.
  • Coach and develop project teams to ensure the successful delivery of projects.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to project teams, ensuring the delivery of high-quality results.
  • Oversee the collection and reporting of data, ensuring quality assurance and quality control.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, stakeholders, and regulators to convey scientific information and support regulatory and engagement efforts.
  • Prepare technical reports for submission to provincial and federal regulatory authorities.
Requirements:
  • University education in environmental science, toxicology, or biological sciences, or a related field. A Masters degree is preferred, but a Bachelors degree with significant work experience is considered equivalent to a graduate degree.
  • Professional Registration as a Registered Professional Biologist (College of Applied Biology of British Columbia) or eligible for professional registration.
  • 12 to 15+ years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to provide leadership to teams of scientists over the entire project life cycles and can point to a track-record of success in the technical delivery of water quality and environmental effects monitoring projects.
