Executive Director, Lands and Resources Office

As a key member of the department's management team, the Executive Director will lead and manage the Lands and Resources Office, providing strategic advice and support to the Assistant Deputy Minister, Indigenous Reconciliation Secretariat, and other Assistant Deputy Ministers across government.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience working in a capacity to improve the lives of Indigenous people through policies, programs, and initiatives. They will possess a proven ability to lead and manage a diverse team, with a commitment to creating a positive and inclusive work environment.

The Executive Director will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic plans to foster positive partnerships and relationships between Manitoba and Indigenous communities. They will work closely with various stakeholders, including community and Indigenous leadership, to achieve the department's goals and objectives.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of Indigenous reconciliation principles and practices, as well as experience in managing budgets and financial reporting. They will be able to work on highly sensitive and sometimes contentious issues with professionalism, diplomacy, and tact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Lands and Resources Office
  • Provide strategic advice and support to the Assistant Deputy Minister, Indigenous Reconciliation Secretariat
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to foster positive partnerships and relationships between Manitoba and Indigenous communities
  • Manage budgets and financial reporting
  • Work closely with various stakeholders, including community and Indigenous leadership

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or degree in business administration, social or physical science, public administration, or a related discipline
  • Extensive experience working in a capacity to improve the lives of Indigenous people through policies, programs, and initiatives
  • Proven ability to lead and manage a diverse team
  • Strong understanding of Indigenous reconciliation principles and practices
  • Experience in managing budgets and financial reporting
