Job Title: HVAC Estimator

TalentSphere Staffing Solutions is proud to partner with a leading HVAC manufacturer and distributor in North America. We are seeking a skilled HVAC Estimator to join their Edmonton branch.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for compiling and sending bids for tender requests and other quoting opportunities. This role also involves providing technical support for quoting, preparing proposals/bids for submission, and troubleshooting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review incoming bids from the general email box
  • Complete take-offs and ensure accuracy
  • Continuously review the bid board and be aware of bid closing dates
  • Identify specialty products ahead of time that may require additional time for pricing
  • Account for any upcoming price increases
  • Complete accurate pricing using vendor software
  • Review all addendums associated with the project
  • Clearly state what is included and not included on bids
  • Review mark-up strategy with the branch manager
  • Complete bids 24 hours prior to closing
  • Must know how to compile bid packages for sheet metal contractors and mechanical contractors
  • Bids to mechanical contractors must be coordinated with the mechanical team to ensure all relevant products are included in the bid prior to it being sent out
  • Complete IFC reviews upon receipt of purchase orders from the sales team
  • Support the salesperson/project manager by assisting in processing change orders and site instructions
  • Take part in product training to stay updated
  • Able to think outside the box and provide value engineering if required
  • Communicate with the sales team to maintain market awareness
  • Provide outstanding customer service with a customer-first approach to business
  • Consistently improve the quality of our service to meet client expectations and minimize costs while maximizing the company's competitive position
  • Self-educate and attend manufacturer's factory/training visits to ensure you are constantly up to date on the latest product developments and software tools
  • Build sustainable customer relationships and trust with customers through open communication
  • Represent the company at site meetings as required
  • Assist in all customer events as required
Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years of estimating experience, with HVAC experience preferred but not required
  • University degree or college diploma is preferred, with relevant HVAC experience considered
  • Ability to read architectural and mechanical drawings
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated, creative, and resourceful
  • Ready to bring positivity, energy, and enthusiasm into the workplace
  • Professional approach to business and the workplace
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively
  • Problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work under pressure unsupervised
  • Strong work ethic guided by personal integrity and mutual respect
